基于大科学装置的核光子学前沿暑期讲习班

Prof. Petru Ghenuche

Lecture summary:

High power laser technology has been growing at a fast pace lately, allowing laser-mater interaction at unprecedented intensities. The 10 PW – class laser system available at Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics (ELI–NP) is and will be used to generate extremely high fluxes of protons, high-Z ions, x-/γ-rays and neutrons. The electromagnetic fields generated by the two 10 PW laser beams will also allow a unique exploration of QED phenomena. Here we will describe the facility, the commissioning runs status and our next steps, with emphasis on the broad range of diagnostics designed for these unprecedented experimental conditions.

Profile:

Dr. Petru Ghenuche is Senior Researcher at Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics, IFIN-HH, Romania. He is interested in generating spatially and temporaly landscaped electromagnetic fields on targets for acceleration of particles and QED physics. He is leading the electron acceleration activities at ELI-NP.
